Southern Tier Pumking

So I finally tried the Pumpking this year with much anticipation. It is on most lists of pumpkin beers and a favorite of many. It came with a disclaimer from the clerk at the craft beer store. He told me that it was a big seller, but that he basically thought it was no good. He said it is overly sweet and tastes more like candy corn. Well here is MY rating...

Name: Southern Tier Imperial Pumking
Origin: Lakewood, NY
ABV: 8.6%
Description: It has a sweet aroma and full amber color. At 8.6% abv, watch out, because this beer packs a punch that you won't notice because of how tasty it is. I did not find it overly sweet, or overly spicy. I really enjoyed this beer but there was a lingering medicinal aftertaste that may have been a product of drinking it right away. Perhaps this beer needs a few minutes to rest. Besides that note I would absolutely drink this again.
Rating (out of 10): 8
